Description

The Cisco ISR 2921 is a modular branch-office router from the 2900 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISR G2). This C2921-VSEC-CUBE/K9 is the Voice Security (VSEC) and Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) bundle, aimed at branches that need secure voice and session border control alongside routing. It also suits small and mid-size sites that need survivable telephony through Unified SRST and Unified CME.

The 2921 platform provides three onboard 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports, plus one SFP-based port that shares with an RJ-45 port, so using the SFP disables the matching RJ-45. Expansion comes from four EHWIC slots (two of them double-wide), one service module slot, one ISM slot and three onboard PVDM3 DSP slots. It ships with 512 MB DDR2 ECC DRAM as standard and includes embedded hardware cryptography and acceleration for IPSec VPN. Voice capacity reaches up to 100 Unified SRST sessions and up to 100 Unified CME sessions. Two USB 2.0 ports and two external Compact Flash slots are fitted.

The chassis accepts EHWIC, HWIC, WIC, VIC and VWIC interface cards, PVDM3 DSP modules, and service modules including double-wide types. Optional power upgrades include an internal PoE supply, a DC supply and an external redundant power supply.
