Description

The Cisco 2921 UCS Express bundle pairs a 2921 Integrated Services Router (ISR G2) with the licences and memory needed to host a Cisco SRE 900 or SRE 910 x86 blade server. It suits lean branch offices that want to run local services such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, file and print, POS, EMR and inventory applications on virtualised Windows or Linux servers inside the branch router, rather than on separate physical servers.

This SKU is specified with a 2921 chassis, 2.5 GB of ISR DRAM, 768 MB of ISR Compact Flash, a single SRE 900/910 service module, the SRE-V virtualisation licence and IMC Express management. The SRE 900/910 blade provides a dual-core Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86 GHz CPU, 4 GB of DRAM by default (8 GB with two 4 GB DIMMs), two 500 GB SATA drives, three Gigabit Ethernet ports and one external USB port. The blade connects to the router over the MGF backplane switch, so no physical cabling is needed between them.

The bundle includes the Cisco SRE-V software licence, which runs the VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi). SRE-V ships with a 60-day evaluation licence, and a permanent licence is activated with a product authorisation key redeemed on the VMware website. The bundle requires Cisco IOS Software Release 15.1(4)M or later.
