Description

The Cisco 2921 is a modular branch-office Integrated Services Router from the Cisco 2900 Series (ISR G2). This SKU is packaged as a Unified Communications bundle for Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CME) and SRST, aimed at small and midsize branch offices that need routing, a voice gateway, call control and survivability, VPN security and WAN connectivity on a single platform.

The 2921 provides 3 onboard 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports plus one SFP-based GE port, where using the SFP disables the matching RJ-45 port. It supports up to 100 CME sessions and up to 100 SRST sessions. Expansion comes from 4 EHWIC slots (2 double-wide), a double-wide Service Module slot, 1 ISM slot and 3 onboard DSP slots, with a PVDM3-32 DSP module in this bundle. It ships with 512 MB DDR2 ECC DRAM, embedded hardware cryptography and concurrent services performance of up to 75 Mbps. The UC+SEC variant covers the Unified Communications and Security licensing needed for voice and VPN services.

The chassis accepts EHWIC, HWIC, WIC, VIC and VWIC interface cards, Service Modules and ISM modules, and PVDM3 DSP modules (PVDM2 via adapter). It runs the Cisco IOS Universal image, with IP Base as the default technology package.
