Description

The Cisco 2901 from the 2900 Series ISR G2 range is a branch router bundle built for small and medium offices that need routing, secure WAN and VPN access, and voice in a single chassis. This SKU adds a Services-Ready Engine 300 (SRE 300) module and a PVDM3-16 voice DSP module, so branch applications and telephony can run without extra boxes.

The router provides 2 onboard 10/100/1000 RJ-45 WAN ports, 4 EHWIC slots (2 usable as double-wide), 1 ISM slot for the SRE 300 and 2 onboard PVDM slots. Memory is 512 MB DDR2 ECC DRAM by default, expandable to 2 GB. Embedded hardware-based cryptography accelerates IPsec VPN, and the platform supports up to 35 Cisco Unified SRST sessions and 35 Unified CCME sessions for survivable branch telephony.

The Unified Communications and Security software licence PAKs are part of this bundle, enabling the voice and security feature sets on the universal Cisco IOS image. EHWIC slots accept compatible EHWIC and HWIC cards, and memory upgrades are available from the MEM-2900 family.
