Description

The Cisco ISR 1921 is a modular branch-office Integrated Services Router from the 1900 Series. This bundle includes a multimode EHWIC providing VDSL2/ADSL2+ Annex M WAN connectivity, making it suited to small branch offices and remote sites that connect over DSL and need secure routing with room to grow.

It provides two onboard 10/100/1000 RJ-45 LAN/WAN ports and two EHWIC slots, one of which can be used as a doublewide slot. Memory is 512 MB DDR2 DRAM with 256 MB of internal USB flash, plus one external USB 2.0 Type A port. Embedded hardware cryptography accelerates IPsec and SSL VPN. The IP Base technology package is included by default, and Data and Security licences can be activated on the Universal IOS image through Cisco software activation.

The router accepts EHWIC, HWIC, HWIC-D, WIC and VWIC modules, so voice, switching or 3G WAN backup can be added later. It has no ISM slots. This AC-input model is 1RU, supports wall mounting and has an optional 19-inch rack-mount kit, with an optional external PoE power supply (PWR-1900-POE) for switch modules.

Q: Which licence does this router include?
A: It includes the IP Base technology package. Optional Data and Security (SEC or SEC-NPE) licences can be activated on the Universal IOS image through Cisco software activation.

Q: Can it supply PoE to connected devices?
A: Not on its own. With the optional external PoE power supply (PWR-1900-POE), it can provide up to 80 W of PoE device power for switch modules.

Q: Which modules does it support?
A: It supports EHWIC, HWIC, HWIC-D, WIC and VWIC modules, including the EtherSwitch HWIC and HWIC-D. It has no ISM slots, so SRE and ISM modules are not supported.

Q: How does this differ from other 1921 models?
