Description

The ASR 1000 Series ASR1K6R2-100-VPNK9 is a bundled configuration built around the 6-slot ASR 1006 chassis, fitted with a Route Processor 2 (RP2) and a 100-Gbps Embedded Services Processor (ESP100). It is a modular WAN aggregation router aimed at enterprise data-centre edge and service provider POP deployments, where it typically serves as a WAN aggregation point, IPsec VPN headend, firewall and NAT platform or data-centre interconnect router.

The chassis provides 2 ESP slots and 2 route-processor slots for hardware redundancy, plus support for up to 3 SIPs or Ethernet line cards and 12 SPA slots. The RP2 ships with 8 GB of DRAM as standard. The ESPs use Cisco Flow Processor technology to accelerate crypto, NAT, Zone-Based Firewall, DPI, CUBE and DCI features, with QoS, cryptography and ACLs processed in hardware. The VPN K9 designation means the crypto-enabled IOS XE image is part of this SKU, and the series supports up to 8,000 IPsec tunnels.

The ASR 1006 takes SIPs such as the ASR1000-SIP10 and SIP-40 together with shared port adapters, and is powered by redundant AC or DC supplies (ASR1006-PWR-AC / ASR1006-PWR-DC). It runs Cisco IOS XE with ISSU support and can be enabled for Cisco SD-WAN.
