Description

The Cisco ASR 1004 is a modular aggregation services router from the ASR 1000 Series. It suits service provider and large enterprise WAN aggregation, Internet and WAN edge roles, and branch or campus aggregation where modular SPA interfaces and software redundancy are needed.

This High Availability bundle pairs the ASR 1004 chassis with a 10-Gbps Embedded Services Processor (ASR1000-ESP10), a Route Processor 1 (ASR1000-RP1) with 4-GB DRAM as standard, and a SPA Interface Processor 10 (ASR1000-SIP10). The chassis provides one ESP slot, one route-processor slot, two SIP slots and eight SPA slots. It is configured with a dual AC power supply, and the ESP10 draws 188 W maximum (140 W typical). Redundancy is delivered in software through redundant Cisco IOS XE instances.

The bundle includes the K9 Advanced Enterprise Services (AESK9) software package. The ESP10 is supported in ASR 1002, ASR 1004 and ASR 1006 chassis and requires Cisco IOS XE 2.1 or later. The ASR 1004 also accepts 20G and 40G ESPs, with the 40G option requiring IOS XE 3.2.0S or later.
