Description

The ASR 1002-X is a 2RU aggregation services router from the Cisco ASR 1000 Series, suited to enterprise WAN edge and branch aggregation, managed CPE and service-provider edge roles such as L3VPN PE, broadband aggregation and SBC/CUBE. This ASR1002X-AIS-AX SKU is the AX bundle, which pairs the chassis with Application Visibility and Control (AVC) and the Advanced IP Services (AIS) feature set, with a discounted vWAAS option for WAN optimisation.

The chassis has an integrated quad-core route processor, ESP and SIP, six built-in Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports and three SPA slots. System throughput is 5 Gbps by default and can be upgraded to 10, 20 or 36 Gbps through performance licences. It ships with 4 GB of DRAM shared across the route processor, ESP and SIP, 8 GB of EUSB flash, and dual redundant power supplies in either AC or DC, which cannot be mixed in one chassis. It runs Cisco IOS XE, and Cisco SD-WAN can be enabled on the ASR 1000 platform.

It accepts shared port adapters and an optional 160 GB hard drive (MASR1002X-HD-160G). It does not support NIM or EPA modules. Software redundancy needs at least 8 GB of DRAM and the FLSASR1-IOSRED licence.

A: The bundle includes the IOS XE technology package licence (the AIS feature set) and the FLSASR1-AVC Application Visibility and Control licence, with a discounted vWAAS option. Performance upgrades and software redundancy need separate licences.

Q: How does the AIS bundle differ from ASR1002X-AES-AX?
A: Both are AX bundles on the same ASR 1002-X chassis. This SKU is built around Advanced IP Services (AIS), while ASR1002X-AES-AX uses the AES technology package.
