Description

The ASR 1002-X is a compact 2RU aggregation services router from the Cisco ASR 1000 family, built for high-end enterprise branch offices, managed CPE and private WAN edge deployments. The route processor, embedded services processor and SPA interface processor are integrated in the chassis, and the router runs Cisco IOS XE with support for Cisco SD-WAN.

This SKU is the 5G Security + High Availability bundle with K9 (AES) crypto licensing. ESP forwarding bandwidth is 5 Gbps by default, with hardware-based cryptographic throughput of up to 4 Gbps. It has 6 built-in Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports and 3 half-height SPA slots. Default memory is 4 GB DRAM shared across the route processor, ESP and SIP, field-replaceable to 8 or 16 GB. Power is supplied by 1+1 redundant, field-replaceable AC or DC power supplies, and software redundancy runs a second IOS XE instance without extra hardware.

Throughput can be raised to 10, 20 or 36 Gbps through software licence upgrades rather than new hardware. The router accepts up to three half-height Cisco Shared Port Adapters, or one half-height plus one full-height SPA, and has no EPA or NIM slots.
