Description

The ASR 1002-X is a fixed-configuration 3RU aggregation services router in the Cisco ASR 1000 range. This SHAK9 SKU is the Security + High Availability bundle with the integrated ESP licensed to 36 Gbps and the Advanced Enterprise Services (AES) technology package. It suits WAN edge and branch deployments, secure multiservice headends with IPsec VPN, and service-provider or enterprise aggregation where software redundancy is needed.

The route processor, ESP and SIP are integrated in one chassis, with 6 built-in Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports and 3 half-height SPA slots for WAN and interface flexibility. System bandwidth is licensed to 36 Gbps, up from the 5 Gbps default on the base ASR 1002-X, and embedded hardware encryption delivers up to 4 Gbps of crypto throughput. This bundle uses 8 GB of DRAM, and dual power supplies are available in AC or DC variants.

The bundle includes the universal K9 image, the AES technology package licence and the 5-to-36 Gbps performance upgrade licence, plus security and HA feature licences. It requires Cisco IOS XE 3.7.0S or later and supports Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) on IOS XE. The 6 built-in SFP ports take 1GE SFP optics, and the SPA slots accept Cisco ASR 1000-compatible shared port adapters.
