Description

The Cisco ASR 1002-X is a 2RU WAN aggregation router from the ASR 1000 Series, built for WAN edge and Internet edge deployments. It suits IPsec VPN headend roles, WAN edge QoS, embedded Zone-Based Firewall and managed CPE, and runs Cisco IOS XE with an integrated route processor, ESP and SIP in a single chassis.

This SKU is the 36 Gbps HA bundle with the K9 AES crypto licence. The chassis provides 6 built-in Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports and 3 SPA slots, with no built-in 10 Gigabit Ethernet port. It ships with 4 GB of DRAM shared across the route processor, ESP and SIP, and the integrated Quad Core route processor supports software redundancy through redundant IOS XE instances. As a pay-as-you-grow '-X' model, further throughput is added with a software licence rather than new hardware.

The three SPA slots take existing Cisco ASR 1000 shared port adapters, protecting prior I/O investment. Ethernet port adapters and NIMs are not supported. The router supports Cisco SD-WAN with IOS XE.
