Description

The ASR 1002-X is a compact 2RU aggregation services router from the Cisco ASR 1000 Series. It suits enterprise WAN edge and branch or Internet aggregation, secure VPN with firewall and NAT, and managed CPE or service provider edge roles.

This bundle is licensed for 20 Gbps system bandwidth using the FLSA1-2X-5-20G performance upgrade, up from the 5 Gbps chassis default. It combines the Security + High Availability feature bundle with the K9 universal image and the AES technology package. The integrated quad-core route processor, ESP and SIP provide 6 built-in Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports, 3 half-height SPA slots and 4 Gbps of hardware-based encryption bandwidth. Memory in this bundle is 8 GB DRAM (M-ASR1002X-8GB), and the chassis supports 1+1 redundant AC or DC power supplies.

The platform supports Cisco Shared Port Adapters (SPAs) in its three SPA slots, plus the built-in 6x1GE SPA in bay 0 using SFP optics. It does not support EPAs or NIMs. Throughput upgrades on the ASR 1002-X are activated by software licence rather than new hardware.
