Description

This ASR 1002-X is a fixed-chassis Aggregation Services Router from the Cisco ASR 1000 Series, supplied as the 20G system bandwidth VPN+FW K9 bundle with an AES licence. It is built for WAN edge and aggregation, VPN headend and secure branch or internet-edge routing where integrated firewall and encryption are needed in one platform.

The chassis provides 20 Gbps of system bandwidth, 6 built-in Gigabit Ethernet ports and dual power supplies. It has an integrated route processor that cannot be upgraded, 4 GB of DRAM by default (expandable to 16 GB) and 8 GB of built-in eUSB flash, partitioned into 1 GB bootflash and 7 GB mass storage. An optional HDD can be added for extra code, configuration and log storage. Stratum-3 clock circuitry with BITS input and output supports synchronous services.

The security K9 bundle brings IPsec VPN, stateful firewall and encryption, and the 20G bandwidth tier is included. The router runs Cisco IOS XE with IOS software redundancy and Nonstop Forwarding, uses the Cisco QuantumFlow Processor for forwarding, and works with ASR 1000 shared port adapters. Other feature licences, such as Advanced IP Services or broadband aggregation, are separate.
