Description

The ASR 1002-X is a 2RU aggregation services router from the ASR 1000 Series, built around an integrated route processor, embedded services processor (ESP) and SIP. It suits high-speed WAN aggregation for enterprise networks, ISPs and data centre interconnects, and is also used as a managed CPE, encrypted WAN edge or SD-WAN edge router.

This SKU is the 20G bandwidth bundle with K9 (crypto/AES) software. The ESP ships at a default of 5 Gbps and is raised to 10, 20 or 36 Gbps through a software-activated licence, so this unit is set to 20 Gbps of system bandwidth without any hardware change. It provides 6 built-in Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports and 3 half-height SPA slots, with hardware-based encryption of 4 Gbps cryptography bandwidth. It runs Cisco IOS XE Software with 4 GB DRAM as standard, upgradable to 8 or 16 GB, and 8 GB of eUSB flash storage.

The chassis supports 1+1 redundant AC or DC power supplies and mounts in a 19-inch rack. It accepts up to three half-height SPAs, or one half-height plus one full-height SPA. The ESP and SIP are integrated and not upgradable.
