Description

The ASR 1002-X is a 2RU aggregation services router from the Cisco ASR 1000 Series, built for WAN aggregation and edge routing in enterprise and service provider networks. It integrates the route processor, embedded services processor and SPA interface processor in a single chassis, and suits branch and Internet edge deployments as well as secure VPN and encrypted WAN designs.

This HA bundle SKU is licensed for 20 Gbps of system bandwidth with the AES technology package, with software redundancy for resilient operation. The chassis provides 6 built-in Gigabit Ethernet SFP ports and 3 half-height SPA slots, with 4 Gbps of hardware-based crypto bandwidth. It ships with 4 GB of DRAM shared across the route processor, ESP and SIP, and uses dual 1+1 redundant AC or DC power supplies. Forwarding bandwidth scales from 5 Gbps up to 36 Gbps through software licensing, so capacity can grow without replacing the hardware.

The 3 SPA slots accept Cisco ASR 1000 Series shared port adapters, each up to 10 Gbps, and the 6 built-in ports take SFP optics. The router runs Cisco IOS XE.
