Description

The ASR 1002-X is a fixed-configuration 2RU aggregation services router from the Cisco ASR 1000 Series. This bundle pairs the chassis with the 10 Gbps system bandwidth option, a security and high-availability (Sec+HA) software package, a K9 crypto image and an AES licence. It suits branch, WAN edge and aggregation roles where IPsec VPN, QoS and resilient routing are needed.

The route processor and ESP are integrated into the chassis and cannot be upgraded. Memory is a 4 GB default with field upgrades to 8 GB or 16 GB DRAM. Built-in 8 GB eUSB flash is split into 1 GB bootflash and 7 GB mass storage, and an optional hard disk can be added for extra code, configuration and log storage. A 10/100/1000 RJ-45 management port, console and auxiliary ports are built in, along with BITS input and output backed by Stratum-3 clock circuitry.

The router runs Cisco IOS XE Software with IOS software redundancy and Nonstop Forwarding. The 10G bundle sets the system bandwidth tier, and further feature licences such as broadband or firewall are separate.
