Description

The ASR 9901 is a compact 2RU provider-edge router in the Cisco ASR 9000 family, built for carrier Ethernet networks. It suits large-scale aggregation, Data Center Interconnect, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN services, mobile backhaul transport, Broadband Network Gateway and Satellite nV System host deployments, and it runs the same Cisco IOS XR software image as the rest of the ASR 9000 Series.

This SKU is the base ASR 9901 chassis under the Traditional Business Model. It provides 456 Gbps of non-blocking, full-duplex fabric capacity and 42 integrated ports: 16 x 1GE, 24 x 1/10GE dual-rate and 2 x 100GE. The integrated route switch processor has a 4-core 2.4 GHz Intel CPU and 32 GB of RAM, and MACsec encryption is supported at all port speeds. Timing options include GPS input for Stratum-1 clocking, BITS and SSU/DTI ports, and hardware-based IEEE 1588 support. Power consumption is 850 W typical and 1100 W maximum, with front-to-back airflow.

Power supplies, fan trays and mounting kits are ordered separately. Redundant 1600W AC (A9K-1600W-AC) or DC (A9K-1600W-DC) supplies and the ASR-9901-FAN fan trays provide power and cooling redundancy, and the ASR-9901-2P-KIT and ASR-9901-4P-KIT mounting kits cover 19 and 23 inch racks.
