Description

The ASR 9901 is a compact 2RU provider-edge router in the Cisco ASR 9000 Series, built for large-scale aggregation, Data Center Interconnect, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN services, mobile backhaul transport, Broadband Network Gateway and Satellite nV host roles in carrier Ethernet networks. It runs Cisco IOS XR 64-bit on an integrated route switch processor.

This ASR-9901-256G is the Pay-As-You-Grow 256G base hardware PID. It provides 42 integrated ports: 16 x 1GE, 24 x dual-rate 1/10GE and 2 x 100GE. The integrated RSP has a 4-core 2.4 GHz Intel CPU and 32 GB RAM. Fabric capacity scales up to 456 Gbps non-blocking full-duplex through upgrade licences A9K9901-UP120-256G (120G to 256G) and A9K9901-UP256-456G (256G to 456G). Timing support includes GPS input for Stratum-1 clocking, BITS and SSU/DTI ports, with MACsec encryption on all port speeds.

It uses redundant A9K-1600W-AC or A9K-1600W-DC power supplies and draws 850 W typical, 1100 W maximum. Pluggable optics follow the Cisco Optics Compatibility Matrix, and the ASR-9901-FAN fan tray and ASR-9901-2P-KIT and ASR-9901-4P-KIT rack mounting kits are available for the chassis.
