Description

The ASR 9901 is a compact 2RU provider edge router from the ASR 9000 Series, built around an integrated route switch processor and 42 integrated ports. It runs the 64-bit Cisco IOS XR operating system and suits Provider Edge aggregation, Data Center Interconnect, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN business services, mobile backhaul transport, Broadband Network Gateway deployments and Satellite nV System host roles.

This SKU is the Pay-As-You-Grow 120G base hardware chassis. Integrated interfaces are 16 x 1GE, 24 x 1/10GE dual-rate and 2 x 100GE, backed by a 4-core 2.4 GHz Intel CPU and 32 GB RAM. The platform provides 456 Gbps of nonblocking full-duplex fabric capacity at its maximum, with this base SKU starting at 120G. Power draw is 850 W typical and 1100 W maximum, with power supply and fan redundancy. Timing includes GPS input for Stratum-1 clocking, BITS and SSU/DTI clock ports and IEEE 1588 hardware support.

Capacity grows by licence, from 120G to 256G with A9K9901-UP120-256G and then to 456G with A9K9901-UP256-456G. It works with A9K-1600W-AC and A9K-1600W-DC power supplies, the ASR-9901-FAN fan tray and ASR-9901-2P-KIT or ASR-9901-4P-KIT mounting kits.
