Description

The ASR 920 series is a compact 1RU aggregation services router built for service provider and carrier-grade access networks. This modular power supply model suits mobile backhaul, Metro Ethernet and broadband access deployments, including small sealed outdoor cabinets and remote or central-office aggregation sites.

Port density is 20 x 1GbE SFP, 4 x 1GbE RJ45 and 4 x 10GbE SFP+, giving a flexible mix of fibre and copper connections for aggregating cell sites and business services. Timing support covers Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and IEEE 1588, with BITS, 1PPS and ToD interfaces for mobile synchronisation. The platform runs Cisco IOS XE Software and supports MPLS in the access layer with L2VPN, L3VPN, VPLS and H-VPLS.

Port and feature licensing follows a pay-as-you-grow model, so additional 1G and 10G interfaces and MPLS features are enabled on demand. The platform accepts a wide range of Cisco SFP and SFP+ optics, including FE, GE, CWDM, DWDM and 10G types, and optional ETSI, 19-inch and 23-inch rack-mount kits.
