Description

The ASR 9010 is a modular, carrier-class router chassis from the Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. It is built for service-provider aggregation and edge networks, including carrier Ethernet, video transport and large-scale carrier deployments, and it runs Cisco IOS XR.

This SKU is the system chassis with 8 vertically oriented line-card slots and two slots for redundant Route Switch Processors with integrated fabric. It stands 21 RU high (933.45 mm) and ships with 19-inch rack mounting by default, with 21- and 23-inch adapters available. Cooling uses two fan trays of 12 variable-speed fans each plus a fan filter, with front-to-back airflow. The commons hold two power entry modules, either AC or DC but never mixed, supporting 3 kW and 6 kW AC modules or 2.1 kW and 4.4 kW DC modules. Fabric, fan, feed, power-supply, RSP and software redundancy are all supported. It is designed to meet NEBS Level 3 and ETSI standards.

The chassis accepts ASR 9000 Series RSPs, such as the RSP440 and RSP880, along with ASR 9000 Ethernet, modular, 100GE, 400G/200G and ISM line cards. Fan trays are ASR-9010-FAN or ASR-9010-FAN-V2, and the filter is the ASR-9010-FILTER. RSPs and line cards are shared with other ASR 9000 chassis. Check exact RSP and line-card combinations against the Cisco release notes.

FAQs

Q: Does the ASR-9010-SYS need a software licence?
A: The chassis runs Cisco IOS XR. ASR 9000 software is ordered through either the Flexible Consumption Model (software subscription) or the Traditional Business Model (feature licences), so confirm the model for your deployment.

Q: Can I mix AC and DC power modules in this chassis?
A: No. The two power entry modules must both be AC or both be DC. AC options are 3 kW and 6 kW modules, and DC options are 2.1 kW and 4.4 kW modules.

Q: Which Route Switch Processors and line cards does it accept?
A: It accepts ASR 9000 Series RSPs such as the RSP440 and RSP880, along with ASR 9000 Ethernet, modular, 100GE, 400G/200G and ISM line cards. Exact combinations should be checked against the Cisco release notes.

Q: Which fan trays and filter does the ASR 9010 use?
A: It uses the ASR-9010-FAN or ASR-9010-FAN-V2 fan trays and the ASR-9010-FILTER. Two fan trays are fitted, each with 12 variable-speed fans.

Q: How does this differ from ASR-9010-AC-V2 and ASR-9010-DC-V2?
A: ASR-9010-SYS is the system chassis, while ASR-9010-AC-V2 and ASR-9010-DC-V2 are the AC and DC bundles of the same platform.
