Description

The ASR 9006 is a 6-slot chassis from the Cisco ASR 9000 Series of carrier-class aggregation routers. This DC-powered version is fitted with the Version 2 power entry module (PEM). It suits service-provider networks that run Carrier Ethernet aggregation and edge services, including L2VPN and L3VPN business services, IPTV, content delivery networks and mobile backhaul, as well as dense 10GbE and 100GbE aggregation.

The chassis takes dual route switch processors, either A9K-RSP-4G or A9K-RSP-8G, and both RSPs must be the same version. It shares its RSPs, line cards, PEMs and power supplies with the ASR 9010. Fabric, power supply, RSP and software redundancy mean there is no single point of failure. Forwarding and control planes are fully distributed, and the router runs Cisco IOS XR Software.

The compatible V2 DC power supply is PWR-2KW-DC-V2. Supported line cards include the A9K-24x10GE-TR/SE, A9K-2x100GE-TR/SE and A9K-MOD80-TR/SE, among others. The PEM Version 2 DC configuration distinguishes this SKU from the AC and original DC chassis variants in the same family.
