Description

The ASR 9000v-V2 is a compact, environmentally hardened, front-access nV satellite shelf that extends a Cisco ASR 9000 Series host router. It is aimed at service provider and large enterprise edge deployments where high-density Gigabit access is needed at remote or adjacent sites such as cabinets and non-temperature-controlled buildings. It can be deployed next to the host or remotely, including over DWDM, and is managed as part of the host rather than as a standalone router.

This AC-powered V2 chassis provides 44 SFP ports running at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps and 4 SFP+ 10GE ports, with 44 Gb of switching capacity. It runs from 100-240V AC at 50/60 Hz with a nominal draw of 120W and a maximum of 170W, and operates from -5 to +55 C. The fan tray and filter are field-replaceable from the front, so the shelf can be wall-mounted or placed back-to-back with other equipment. Local EOBC Ethernet management and console ports are provided for optional local management.

The satellite needs an ASR 9000 host running Cisco IOS XR 5.2.2 or later, which handles provisioning, the CLI, software maintenance and feature processing. The host requires an nV satellite host licence (A9K-NVSAT1-LIC, A9K-NVSAT5-LIC or A9K-NVSAT20-LIC for up to 1, 5 or 20 nV clients). The shelf takes SFP and SFP+ optics, and the spare fan tray is A9KV-V2-FAN=.

FAQs

Q: Can the A9KV-V2-AC be used as a standalone router?
A: No. It operates as an nV satellite of a Cisco ASR 9000 Series host running IOS XR 5.2.2 or later, and is provisioned and managed through that host.

Q: What licensing is required?
A: The shelf has no standalone software. The ASR 9000 host needs an nV satellite host licence: A9K-NVSAT1-LIC, A9K-NVSAT5-LIC or A9K-NVSAT20-LIC for up to 1, 5 or 20 nV clients.

Q: What power does it need?
A: It runs from 100-240V AC at 50/60 Hz through a three-pole AC connector. Nominal power is 120W and maximum is 170W. A region-specific AC power cable is required, for example A9KV2-AC-CBL for North America.

Q: Which optics does it use?
A: The 44 GE ports take SFP optics and the 4 uplink ports take SFP+ 10GE optics. Check the Cisco TMG Compatibility Matrix and the Cisco Optical Pluggable Modules for ASR 9000v datasheet for supported part numbers.

Q: How does the V2 AC differ from other ASR 9000v variants?
A: This SKU is the V2 hardware with an AC chassis, 44 SFP GE ports and 4 SFP+ 10GE ports. DC-powered variants use a different chassis and power input.

Q: What is the spare fan tray part number?
A: The field-replaceable fan tray for the V2 is A9KV-V2-FAN=.
