Description

The Cisco 8711 is a 1RU fixed-port router in the Cisco 8000 Series, built on Cisco Silicon One processors and running IOS XR. It is aimed at service providers and large enterprises building metro, aggregation and edge networks, and also suits 5G mobile backhaul, provider core and internet peering roles.

This SKU delivers 12.8 Tbps of system throughput across 16 QSFP-DD800 and 16 QSFP56-DD ports with breakout support. Interfaces can run as up to 32 x 400G, up to 16 x 800G or up to 128 x 100G, with the total not exceeding 12.8T. Port speeds range from 10G to 800G. The chassis is powered by a 6-core x86 CPU with 64GB DRAM and a 480GB SSD, and takes two 2000W field-replaceable power supplies in a 1+1 redundant arrangement. Typical system power is 740W without optics.

The base chassis requires IOS XR software licensing, available under the Flexible Consumption Model 2.0 or as perpetual licences for an 8000 Type B device. It accepts QSFP+, QSFP28, QSFP56-DD and QSFP-DD800 optics, plus 400G DCO optics for Routed Optical Network deployments.

A: The base chassis needs IOS XR software licensing, sold separately. Options are the Flexible Consumption Model 2.0 (FCM 2.0) with Essential, Advantage or Premium 100G Right-to-Use licences plus a Type B Device SIA for a 3 or 5 year term, or perpetual licences for an 8000 Type B device. FCM 2.0 requires registration with Cisco Licensing and usage reporting.

A: It takes two 2000W field-replaceable power modules in a 1+1 redundant setup. AC options are PSU2KW-ACPI and PSU2KW-ACPE, and DC options are PSU2KW-DCPI and PSU2KW-DCPE. DC installations also need the PWR-2KW-DC-CBL cable.
