Description

The Cisco 8100 Series 8101-32H-O is a fixed 1RU router built for data-centre Top-of-Rack and high-density IP fabric leaf and spine roles. It suits deployments that do not need the larger forwarding scale and deep buffering of the 8200 Series, including hyperscaler and traditional data-centre environments.

It provides 32 x 100GbE QSFP28 ports and 3.2 Tbps of bandwidth on the Cisco Silicon One ASIC, without HBM. The 8101-32H-O is the open software variant, so it runs the SONiC network operating system. A 4-core 2.4 GHz Intel Broadwell CPU and 16 GB of DRAM handle the control plane, and typical system power is 172 W at 3.2 Tbps. The unit has two power supplies and five fans.

The QSFP28 ports accept 100GbE optics and the 8100 Series supports breakout to lower port rates. Management interfaces include RS-232 console, 1GbE management and a USB 2.0 port.
