Description

This Cisco 8100 Series fixed-port 1RU system is built for data centre fabrics, where it suits leaf, spine and top-of-rack roles. It is the Open Software variant, intended for Cisco-qualified open-source network operating systems such as SONiC rather than a Cisco IOS XR licence.

The chassis is based on Q200L silicon without HBM and delivers 12.8 Tbps of routing capacity across 32 QSFP-DD400 ports. Each port supports breakout to 4x100G, 2x200G or 2x100G for flexible 100G, 200G and 400G connectivity. The chassis provides console, USB and management Ethernet interfaces. Cooling is port-side intake (PSI v2), with airflow front to rear. The chassis has 2 power supply bays and 6 fan modules. This SKU is defined as having no PSUs or fans, so the PSU1.4KW-ACPI power supplies (1400W AC, 90-264 VAC input) and FAN-1RU-PI-C01 fan modules are ordered separately.

The 400G ports accept QSFP-DD optics, and Cisco lists QDD-400G-ZR-S and QDD-400G-ZRP-S support for the 8101-32FH family, subject to port-position and temperature limits. Confirm exact optics against the hardware installation guide.
