Description

The VG410 is a 1RU, IOS-XE based medium-density analog voice gateway from the Cisco VG400 series. It connects existing analog phones, fax machines, modems and speakerphones to Cisco Unified Communications Manager, or to Webex Calling with the optional Cloud Calling licence. It suits centralised, highly concentrated sites that keep analog devices while moving to IP telephony.

This model provides 48 FXS ports on RJ21 female connectors, with no built-in FXO failover bypass ports, which separates it from the VG410-24FXS and VG410-24FXS/4FXO. Two 10/100/1000 RJ45 Ethernet LAN ports give link redundancy. An Intel x86 processor with 8 GB DDR4 SDRAM and 8 GB fixed flash runs Cisco IOS-XE 17.12.1 or later, with RJ45 serial and micro-USB console access. The internal AC supply accepts 100-240 VAC, draws a maximum of 138 W, and the chassis mounts in 19 in or 23 in racks.

Licensing is Smart Licensing only, and a Smart Account or Virtual Account is required when ordering. The Unified Communication licence is included by default, with optional Security and Cloud Calling licences. It works with Cisco UCM 14 SU3 and 15.0 (SU1) onwards, and supports third-party call control over SIP IP trunks.

FAQs

Q: Does the VG410-48FXS need a licence or Smart Account?
A: It uses Smart Licensing only, and a Smart Account or Virtual Account is mandatory when ordering. The Unified Communication licence is included by default. Optional Security and Cloud Calling licences are available, and Cloud Calling requires the Security licence to be installed first.

Q: Does it work with Webex Calling?
A: Yes. Webex Calling is supported with the optional Cloud Calling licence (FL-VG4XX-CC). The gateway also works with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and supports third-party SIP IP trunks.

Q: Which call control versions does it support?
A: It requires Cisco IOS-XE 17.12.1 or later and works with Cisco UCM 14 SU3 (without BAT) and 15.0 (SU1) onwards. It also works with UCME versions compatible with IOS-XE 17.12.1 or higher.

Q: How does it differ from the VG410-24FXS models?
A: The VG410-48FXS provides 48 FXS ports and has no built-in FXO failover bypass ports. The VG410-24FXS and VG410-24FXS/4FXO offer 24 FXS ports, with the latter adding FXO ports.

Q: Can it act as a CUBE, SRST or DSP farm?
A: No. CUBE, UCME, SRST and DSP farm functions are not natively supported and need an ISR 4000 or Catalyst 8300/8200 platform.

Q: What power does it need?
A: It has an internal AC supply that accepts 100-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz, with a maximum power draw of 138 W for the 48 FXS model.
