Description

The VG400 is a Cisco IOS XE-based analog voice gateway that connects analog phones, fax machines, modems and speakerphones to a Cisco Unified Communications Manager based IP telephony system. It suits distributed and low- to medium-density deployments where existing analog endpoints need to stay in service while the organisation moves to IP telephony, including Webex Calling with the VG400 acting as an analog telephone adapter.

This VG400-8FXS model provides eight RJ-11 FXS ports, numbered 0 to 7, all of them FXS-E enabled for extended loop reach, and no FXO ports. Short-loop ports support up to 600 ohms of loop resistance and long-loop ports up to 1400 ohms. It has up to two 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN ports, one USB 2.0 Type-A port and 4 GB of fixed DDR3 SDRAM. On-board DSP provides echo cancellation up to 128 ms, so no PVDM is required. Power comes from a 100 to 240 VAC auto-ranging external supply rated at 55 W. It is not a PoE device.

The VG400 runs Cisco IOS XE Software 16.10.1 or later and works with Cisco Unified Communications Manager 12.0.1SU2 or later and Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express. Third-party call control is supported through SIP and H.323 IP trunks. CUBE, CUCM Express, SRST and DSP farm functions are available only on Cisco 4000 Series ISRs.
