Description

This 12.8 TB solid state drive is built for Cisco UCS X-Series modular systems, where it provides hot-pluggable local NVMe storage for X210c M8 compute nodes. It is a KCD8XPJE model in the EDSFF E3.S 1T form factor and is aimed at high-performance, write-intensive workloads in data centres and remote sites, as well as all-NVMe vSAN ReadyNode deployments.

The drive uses a PCIe Gen5 NVMe interface and is rated in the High Performance and High Endurance class at 3X DWPD (drive writes per day). It carries Cisco's SIE SCEF security option. Drives are supplied mounted in sleds and can be hot-swapped. A single X210c M8 compute node can hold up to 9 E3.S drives, or up to 2 NVMe drives when the front mezzanine GPU module is fitted.

The drive requires the UCSX-X10C-PTE3 E3.S pass-through front mezzanine controller, which cannot be mixed with 2.5 inch SATA, SAS or U.3 drives. It draws power from the host compute node, so no separate power supply is needed. It is supported in both Intersight Managed Mode and UCSM Managed Mode, and is also listed in Cisco HCIVS vSAN ReadyNode configurations.
