Description

This 3.2TB NVMe solid state drive is built for Cisco UCS M8 servers. It uses the compact EDSFF E3.S 1T form factor and a PCIe Gen5 interface, and it is a hot-pluggable drive option for data-intensive, write-heavy and latency-sensitive workloads such as databases, virtualisation and analytics.

The drive is the Samsung PM1745 family part in High Performance, High Endurance 3X configuration, with TCG Opal self-encrypting drive support. Capacity is 3.2TB, delivered over NVMe on PCIe Gen5. The 3X rating places it in the write-intensive endurance class, so it suits local storage that is rewritten heavily.

In the Cisco UCS X210c M8 compute node, E3.S drives require the UCSX-X10C-PTE3 compute pass-through controller, with up to nine E3.S drives per node. E3.S drives cannot be mixed with 2.5-inch SAS, SATA or U.3 drives in that node. The drive draws power from the host server drive slot, so no separate power supply is needed.
