Description

This 96GB DDR5-5600 registered DIMM is a memory module for Cisco UCS C-Series rack servers in the UCS M7 memory family. It is built for capacity expansion in C220 M7 and C240 M7 servers running virtualisation, database and other memory-intensive enterprise workloads.

The module is a dual-rank 2Rx4 RDIMM using 24Gb DRAM density and 1.1 V operation, with a rated speed of 5600 MT/s. This is the UCS- C-Series part number, not the UCSX- variant used in X-Series compute nodes. In service it runs at the highest speed the installed CPU's memory controller supports. With Intel Xeon 5th Gen CPUs at 1 DIMM per channel, Platinum 8 processors run it at 5600 MT/s, Gold 6 at 5200 MT/s, Gold 5 at 4800 MT/s and Silver 4 or Bronze 3 at 4400 MT/s. At 2 DIMMs per channel all CPU tiers run at 4400 MT/s.

It requires Intel Xeon 5th Gen CPUs and is not supported with the 3508U, 4509Y, 4510 or 4510T. Each CPU provides 8 memory channels with up to 2 DIMMs per channel. It should not be mixed with DDR5-6400 DIMMs in the same server on 5th Gen CPUs.

Q: Which Cisco servers does this memory module work with?
A: It is the UCS- C-Series part number for Cisco UCS C220 M7 and C240 M7 rack servers with Intel Xeon 5th Gen CPUs. The UCSX-MRX96G2RF3 variant is the equivalent for X210c and X410c M7 compute nodes.

Q: What speed will it run at?
A: It is rated at 5600 MT/s, but runs at the highest speed the installed CPU supports. With 5th Gen CPUs at 1 DIMM per channel that is 5600 MT/s on Platinum 8, 5200 MT/s on Gold 6, 4800 MT/s on Gold 5 and 4400 MT/s on Silver 4 or Bronze 3. At 2 DIMMs per channel all tiers run at 4400 MT/s.

Q: Can I mix it with DDR5-6400 DIMMs?
A: No. Mixing DDR5-5600 and DDR5-6400 DIMMs in one server with 5th Gen CPUs is not supported. The DDR5-6400 96GB equivalent is UCS-MRX96G2RF5.

Q: How many DIMMs can I install?
A: A 1-CPU server accepts 1, 6, 8, 12 or 16 DIMMs. A 2-CPU server accepts 2, 12, 16, 24 or 32 DIMMs. The 12-DIMM (1-CPU) and 24-DIMM (2-CPU) configurations require all DIMMs to have the same density.

Q: Which CPUs are not supported with this module?
A: With Intel 5th Gen Xeon CPUs, the 3508U, 4509Y, 4510 and 4510T are not supported with this module.
