Description

The IE3500 Heavy Duty Series IE3500H is a ruggedised industrial Ethernet switch built for harsh operational technology environments. It carries IP66/IP67 and UL 50E Type 4X ratings, so it can be wall mounted where dust and water are a concern, such as factory automation, SCADA, machine vision, transportation and railway networks.

This model provides 16 Gigabit X-coded M12 ports with no SFP ports and no PoE budget. It runs from a 12-48 VDC input through a Mini-Change power connector and is rated for operation from -40°C to +75°C with 200 LFM airflow. It ships with the perpetual Network Advantage licence, which adds Layer 3 routing, SD-Access fabric, BGP-EVPN and TrustSec segmentation on top of the Network Essentials feature set. Lossless redundancy (PRP/HSR/DLR) is limited to the IE3505H variants and is not part of this model.

Management is available through the on-device WebUI and CLI, NETCONF/RESTCONF/YANG, or Cisco Catalyst Center. The switch can host IOx applications including Cisco Cyber Vision and Secure Equipment Access.

FAQs

Q: Which licence does this switch run?
A: The -A suffix denotes the perpetual Network Advantage licence, which includes all Network Essentials features. Orders on or after 1 October 2025 also include a 3-year, 24-endpoint Advantage licence for Cisco Cyber Vision and Secure Equipment Access.

Q: Does it support PoE?
A: No. This is a non-PoE model with 16 Gigabit M12 data ports and no PoE budget. Connected devices need their own power source.

Q: How is the switch powered?
A: It takes a 12-48 VDC input through a Mini-Change power connector from a single power source. It draws 41 W measured at 12V.

Q: Does it have SFP ports or support PRP/HSR lossless redundancy?
A: No. This model has no SFP ports, so there is no optic compatibility to consider. Lossless redundancy (PRP/HSR/DLR) is available only on IE3505H variants.

Q: Which accessories and management options work with it?
A: It can be managed through the on-device WebUI/CLI or Cisco Catalyst Center, with optional DNA Essentials or Advantage licences. An optional SD-IE-16GB SD card and the CAB-CONSOLE-M12= console cable (M12 to DB9F) are supported.
