Description

The Cisco IE3500 Heavy Duty (IE3500H) is a ruggedised, IP66/IP67-rated industrial Ethernet switch for harsh operational technology environments such as transportation, railway, utility and industrial networks. It suits sites that need a dustproof, waterproof and vibration-resistant switch to power and connect IP cameras, wireless access points and PLCs.

This model provides 16 Gigabit M12 X-code ports, 14 of which deliver PoE/PoE+ from a 240W budget, while the remaining 2 are non-PoE. It ships with the Network Advantage perpetual licence, which includes all Network Essentials features and adds Layer 3 routing, MACsec-256 and the bundled Cisco Cyber Vision and Secure Equipment Access entitlement. Forwarding is line rate on all ports, with 24,000 unicast MAC addresses and 1,024 active VLANs. It operates from -40 to +75 C with 200 LFM airflow and runs from a single 12-54VDC input, with 44-54VDC required for PoE.

The switch is wall mounted and managed through the on-device WebUI or CLI, NETCONF/RESTCONF/YANG, or Catalyst Center. It supports IOx application hosting and SD-Access extended node roles. It has no SFP ports, so all connectivity is over the M12 interfaces.

FAQs

Q: Which licence does this SKU ship with?
A: It ships with the Network Advantage perpetual licence, which includes all Network Essentials features. Network Advantage orders on or after 1 October 2025 include a 3-year, 24-endpoint licence of Cisco Cyber Vision and Secure Equipment Access.

Q: How is the switch powered and how much PoE can it supply?
A: It runs from a single 12-54VDC input through a Mini-Change connector, and 44-54VDC is required to power PoE. The 240W PoE budget is shared across the 14 PoE/PoE+ ports. Power cords and DC power sources are ordered separately.

Q: Does it have SFP uplink ports?
A: No. All 16 ports are Gigabit M12 X-code copper interfaces, so there are no SFP or SFP+ cages on this model.

Q: How does it differ from other IE3500H variants?
A: This SKU has 14 PoE/PoE+ ports and 2 non-PoE Gigabit M12 X-code ports with a 240W PoE budget and Network Advantage licensing. Lossless redundancy protocols such as PRP, HSR and DLR are supported on IE3505H variants only.

Q: Which management options are available?
A: You can manage it with the on-device WebUI or CLI, NETCONF/RESTCONF/YANG, or Catalyst Center with optional DNA Essentials or DNA Advantage licences. DNA Advantage pairs only with Network Advantage.
