Description

The Catalyst 9163E is an outdoor-rated Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) tri-band access point from Cisco's Catalyst 9100 family. It suits campus environments, municipal Wi-Fi, stadiums, airport hangars and similar outdoor or high-density deployments. This CW9163E-Z is the regulatory domain Z variant of the CW9163E family.

The access point runs 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz radios, each with 2x2 MIMO and two spatial streams. Channel widths reach 160 MHz on 6 GHz, with PHY data rates up to 3.9 Gbps. It supports downlink MU-MIMO, uplink and downlink OFDMA, TWT, BSS coloring and 1024-QAM. The uplink is a single 2.5G mGig port. A built-in GPS antenna and an integrated IoT radio are included in the design. When run with Catalyst 9800 controllers it needs a Cisco DNA or Catalyst wireless subscription, and Meraki cloud-managed mode needs a Meraki wireless licence.

It works with Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers, physical or virtual, running IOS XE 17.12.3 or later, and is also supported in the Meraki cloud dashboard as the CW9163E. External omnidirectional dipole antennas such as the CW-ANT-O1-NS-00 (N-type) are sold separately.
