Description

The Cisco UCS-CPU-8160 is an Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 (Skylake-SP) server processor from the Cisco UCS M5 CPU options range. It suits upgrade or replacement work on Cisco UCS M5 servers running virtualisation, database, analytics, HPC and other compute-intensive enterprise workloads.

The processor delivers 24 cores and 48 threads at a 2.1 GHz base frequency, with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.7 GHz and 33 MB of L3 cache. It has a 150 W TDP, three UPI links at 10.4 GT/s, and six channels of DDR4-2666 memory supporting up to 768 GB per CPU. It provides 48 PCIe 3.0 lanes and AVX-512 instruction support with two FMA units, and uses the FCLGA3647 socket.

It is used in Cisco UCS M5 generation servers, including the UCS B200 M5 blade, UCS C220 M5 and C240 M5 rack servers, and the UCS C480 M5. It pairs with DDR4-2666 DIMMs and does not support Optane DC persistent memory. For UCS Manager, Cisco recommends releases that support higher-wattage CPUs, such as UCSM 3.2(2) or 4.0 for the B200 M5.
