FAQs

Q: What is the difference between IE-3500 and IE-3505 models?
A: The IE-3505 models support advanced industrial redundancy protocols including HSR (High-Availability Seamless Redundancy), PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol), and DLR (Device Level Ring), while standard IE-3500 models do not. Both share the same port configurations and physical characteristics.

Q: Can this switch be expanded with additional ports?
A: Yes, the IE-3505-8T3S-E supports one modular expansion module (IEM-3500 series), allowing you to add 4 to 16 additional ports depending on the module selected, with a maximum total of 27 ports per system.

Q: What type of environments is this switch designed for?
A: This switch is built for harsh industrial environments including manufacturing floors, outdoor installations, substations, railways, and marine applications. It operates in extreme temperatures (-40°C to +75°C), is fanless with no moving parts, and meets industrial certifications for shock, vibration, and EMC immunity.

Q: Does this model support PoE?
A: No, the IE-3505-8T3S-E does not support Power over Ethernet. For PoE requirements, consider the IE-3505-8P3S model which offers PoE/PoE+ on all 8 copper ports with a 240W base budget.

Q: What license tier is included with the -E suffix?
A: The -E suffix indicates Network Essentials license, which provides foundational Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching features. For advanced capabilities including SD-Access fabric edge and BGP-EVPN, the Network Advantage license (-A suffix) is required.
