Description

The Firepower 4245 is the highest-performance model in Cisco's Secure Firewall 4200 Series (formerly Firepower 4200). This 1RU next-generation firewall and IPS platform is aimed at large enterprises, data centres and service providers that need high-throughput inspection, IPsec VPN and TLS decryption. This SKU is the spare chassis only, intended as a replacement or sparing unit for existing 4245 deployments.

The chassis provides 8 fixed 1/10/25G SFP28 data ports and 2 SFP28 management ports, with two network module bays for additional interfaces from 1G up to 400G, including fail-to-wire options. It carries 2 x 1.8 TB NVMe SSDs and 1 TB of system memory. In Threat Defense (FTD) mode it delivers 140 Gbps of FW+AVC+IPS throughput at 1024B, 60 million concurrent sessions and 800K new connections per second, and up to 16 chassis can be clustered.

The unit runs either Secure Firewall Threat Defense or ASA software under Cisco Smart Licensing, and no software licences or subscriptions are included with this SKU. It has two PSU bays supporting 200 to 240 VAC high-line power supplies. The 4245 accepts these network modules: 8-port 1G copper FTW, 8 x 1/10G SFP+, 8 x 1/10/25G SFP28, 4 x 40G QSFP+, 4 x 40/100/200G QSFP28, 2 x 100G QSFP28, 2 x 400G QSFP-DD, and 6-port 10G or 25G SR/LR FTW.
