Description

This 3000 W DC power supply module is built for the Juniper QFX5230-64CD, the 2U 64-port 400GbE data centre switch. It suits high-density data centre, metro Ethernet and telecom environments that run on -48 V DC feeds, including Open Rack v3 (ORv3) deployments where the DCAFO2 model is paired with the ORv3 tray-mounted DC switch.

The module accepts an input of -40 V to -72 V DC and delivers 12 V at 250 A plus a 12 VSB standby rail at 1 A. It uses airflow-out (AFO) cooling, moving air from the ports toward the power supply side, so it must be matched with AFO fans. Each switch takes two power supplies in a 1+1 redundant, load-sharing arrangement, and the module is hot-removable and hot-insertable once the second supply is installed and running.

On DC power the QFX5230-64CD draws about 487 W typical and 1446 W at maximum. Each supply needs its own external circuit breaker, with a 2-pole, 125 VDC, 80 A unit recommended. Do not mix this module with AFI 2400 W DC supplies, as the switch raises an alarm when airflow direction or wattage differs between power supplies.
