Description

The JG325B-BCC is a drop-in compatible replacement for the Aruba JG325B 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ transceiver. This module provides plug-and-play compatibility with Aruba switches and routers that support the JG325B specification. - IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-SR4 and QSFP+ MSA compliant, ensuring interoperability with standards-based 40 Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure - QSFP+ form factor with MPO-12 multi-fibre connector, 40 Gbps data rate, 850nm VCSEL transmitter, up to 150m reach on OM4 multi-mode fibre (100m on OM3) - Digital diagnostic monitoring (DOM/DDM) support for real-time parameter visibility including temperature, voltage, transmit power, and receive power - Four independent full-duplex channels operating at 10 Gbps each, enabling 40G aggregated bandwidth or 4x10G breakout mode with appropriate ribbon-to-duplex fibre cables - 0 to 70°C operating temperature range, hot-swappable installation, RoHS compliant, power consumption under 1.5W - Tested in Blue Cable Co's Sydney lab to confirm compatibility with Aruba platforms requiring JG325B transceivers

Features

• IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-SR4 compliance guarantees standards-based interoperability with any vendor platform supporting 40G multi-mode parallel optics over MPO connector
• Four parallel transmit and receive lanes, each carrying 10 Gbps, aggregate to 40 Gbps full-duplex throughput using four-channel 850nm VCSEL array and PIN photodiode array
• Link budget supports 1.9 dB insertion loss over 100m of OM3 fibre or 1.5 dB over 150m of OM4 fibre, accommodating typical data centre patching and backbone runs
• Supports 4x10G breakout mode when deployed with 12-fibre ribbon-to-duplex breakout cables, enabling connectivity to four separate 10GBASE-SR interfaces from a single 40G port
• Hot-swappable with QSFP+ MSA mechanical and electrical interface, allowing insertion and removal without powering down the host switch or router
• DDM function provides real-time access to transmit and receive optical power per lane, module temperature, and supply voltage via I2C serial interface
• Low power dissipation under 1.5W with single +3.3V supply and CML-compatible differential electrical I/O for signal integrity at 10 Gbps per channel

FAQs

Q: Will this work in place of the Aruba JG325B?
A: Yes. The JG325B-BCC is a plug-and-play replacement for the Aruba JG325B based on identical form factor (QSFP+), data rate (40 Gbps), standard (IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-SR4), wavelength (850nm), and reach (150m on OM4). It initialises and operates identically in any Aruba platform that lists JG325B as a supported transceiver.

Q: Which Aruba and HPE platforms support this transceiver?
A: This module is compatible with Aruba and HPE switches, routers, and network interface cards that have QSFP+ ports and support the 40GBASE-SR4 standard. This includes HPE FlexFabric and FlexNetwork switch families with 40G QSFP+ uplink capability. Verify your specific model lists JG325B or 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ support in the hardware documentation.

Q: What is the difference in reach between OM3 and OM4 fibre?
A: This transceiver supports up to 100m on OM3 multi-mode fibre and 150m on OM4 multi-mode fibre. The difference is due to OM4's lower modal dispersion and higher effective modal bandwidth at 850nm. Both fibre types use the same 50-micron core, but OM4 is laser-optimised for higher data rates and longer distances. The maximum insertion loss budget is 1.9 dB for OM3 and 1.5 dB for OM4.

Q: Can I use this transceiver in 4x10G breakout mode?
A: Yes. The JG325B-BCC supports 4x10G operation when used with a 12-fibre MPO-to-duplex LC breakout cable. Each of the four independent 10 Gbps lanes can connect to a separate 10GBASE-SR port, allowing a single 40G QSFP+ port to serve four 10G connections. Host switch configuration and breakout cable type must support this mode. Each 10G lane maintains the same reach as the aggregated 40G link (100m OM3, 150m OM4).

Q: What DOM parameters can I monitor on this transceiver?
A: The integrated DDM function provides real-time monitoring of transmit optical power, receive optical power, module temperature, and supply voltage. For the four-lane SR4 architecture, transmit and receive power are reported per channel, allowing you to identify individual lane degradation or imbalance. Access these parameters via CLI or management interface on the host platform to track link health, detect failing fibres, or verify optical budget before link failures occur.
