Description

The UCSXE-M2-480G is a 480GB M.2 SATA boot solid-state drive built on Micron G2 flash, designed for Cisco UCS XE-Series compute nodes such as the UCS XE130c M8. It suits edge and AI deployments that need a dedicated boot volume separate from the main data drives.

The drive is installed on the node's M.2 boot-optimised RAID controller, UCSXE-M2-HWRD2, and is ordered in matched pairs. Paired drives support RAID 1 or JBOD, and the 480GB capacity sits between the 240GB and 960GB options in the same range. Capacities cannot be mixed within a single compute node. Boot mode is UEFI only, and Cisco recommends the drives for boot-only use.

The XE130c M8 compute node is housed in the UCS XE9305 chassis. Cisco Intersight can configure volumes and monitor the controller and installed M.2 drives. The drives are not hot-plug, so the compute node must be powered off before replacement. No licence is needed for the SSD itself.
