Description

This 75GB M.2 SSD is the extended image cache option for the Edge Chassis Management Controller (eCMC) in the Cisco UCS XE9305 chassis, part of Cisco Unified Edge. It gives the eCMC local storage so OS images can be staged on the chassis, supporting parallel compute OS installation through visual media. It suits edge deployments where several compute nodes need to be provisioned quickly from a local cache.

The module provides 75 GB of capacity on an M.2 SSD fitted to the eCMC boot-optimised M.2 module, connecting to the eCMC PCB over USB 2.0. One SSD is used per eCMC. The UCS XE9305 chassis takes two eCMCs, so the approved configuration selects one Extended Image Cache for each eCMC, two in total. This SKU is the eCMC option with the 75GB SSD, as distinct from UCSXE-ECMC-G1, which is the controller without an SSD.

It is powered from the eCMC module, so no separate power supply is needed, and it carries no licence of its own. It is intended for the UCSXE-ECMC-G1 eCMC in UCS XE9305 chassis running Cisco Unified Edge compute nodes, and the chassis is managed through Cisco Intersight.
