Description

The UCS X580p is a PCIe Gen5 expansion node for the Cisco UCS X-Series Modular System. It is built for generative and agentic AI fine-tuning and inference, high-performance LLM inference, VDI, rendering and professional visualisation, and it lets GPU resources sit alongside UCS X-Series compute nodes in the UCS X9508 chassis.

This base SKU provides two riser cages with two GPU slots each, giving four full-height, full-length dual-slot PCIe Gen5 x16 positions. GPUs are ordered separately. Supported options are NVIDIA H200 NVL, L40S, RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell and RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell, with 2-way NVLink bridge support on the H200 NVL. The node occupies two chassis slots, draws up to 2400 W from the chassis power supplies and connects to compute nodes through UCS X9516 X-Fabric modules. GPUs can be assigned to one or two compute nodes, as 1, 2 or 4 GPUs per node, using PCIe device policies in Cisco Intersight.

It works with UCS X210c M8, X215c M8 and X210c M7 compute nodes, each of which needs a UCSX-V5-PCIME PCIe mezzanine card. It is managed in Intersight Managed Mode, which needs a minimum Cisco Intersight Essentials licence per server. Different GPU types cannot be mixed within one riser cage or on one compute node.

FAQs

Q: Does this SKU include any GPUs?
A: No. UCSX-580P is the base PCIe node with four GPU slots. GPUs are selected separately using the UCSX-GPU-L40S, UCSX-GPU-H200-NVL, UCSX-GPU-RTXP6000 or UCSX-GPU-RTXP4500 part numbers.

Q: Which compute nodes and fabric does it work with?
A: It pairs with UCS X210c M8, X215c M8 and X210c M7 compute nodes in a UCS X9508 chassis, connected through UCS X9516 X-Fabric modules. Each mapped compute node needs a UCSX-V5-PCIME PCIe mezzanine card.

Q: How is it powered?
A: It has no separate power supply. Power comes from the UCS X9508 chassis power supplies, with a maximum draw of 2400 W for the node. Ambient temperature must stay below 27 C.

Q: What licensing is required?
A: It is managed in Intersight Managed Mode, which requires a minimum Cisco Intersight Essentials licence per server. An NVIDIA vGPU licence is required when L40S or RTX PRO 6000 GPUs are selected.

Q: Can different GPU types be mixed in one node?
A: Different GPU types cannot be mixed within one riser cage or on one compute node. The 2-way NVLink bridge (UCSX-NVL2-H200) is available for H200 NVL GPUs.
