Description

The S1G-LH-PM-D-I is a smart 1G SFP Transceiver from the Cisco Assurance SFP range. It combines a standard 1310nm single-mode Gigabit Ethernet long-haul optic with a built-in FPGA that generates and measures Layer 2-4 traffic. Service providers use it for demarcation, service activation testing and performance monitoring on carrier Ethernet, IP services and mobile backhaul, without separate head-end test equipment.

The optic is a 1G LH module with a 1310nm wavelength, an LC duplex connector and a 10km reach over G.652 single-mode fibre. Transmit power is -9.5 to -3 dBm with a 12 dB link budget, and digital optical monitoring follows SFF-8472. It is rated for the industrial temperature range of -40 to 85 C and draws 1.75 W from the host SFP port, with no external power or PoE required. The module has a blue bail.

Testing and monitoring cover RFC2544 and Y.1564 service activation, plus TWAMP and Y.1731 performance monitoring. The module is managed through Cisco Crosswork Assurance, with firmware updates delivered the same way, and it can also be reconfigured using the Cisco Assurance Module Dock. As a smart SFP, its initialisation time exceeds standard MSA specifications.
