Description

The Assurance SFP is a 10GbE short-reach multimode SFP+ smart transceiver from the Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance range. An integrated FPGA performs active Layer 2-4 traffic generation and measurement directly in the SFP+ port, giving service providers service activation testing and performance monitoring without separate test equipment or extra rack space. It suits Carrier Ethernet, mobile backhaul and IP service deployments that need in-line assurance and demarcation.

This SKU is a 10G SR module operating at 850 nm over multimode fibre with an LC duplex connector. It reaches 150 m on OM3 and OM4 fibre, with a 4 dB link budget. The extended operating temperature range is -5 to 85 C, module power draw is 2.6 W, and it is identified by its beige bail. It supports SFF-8472 digital optical monitoring and SFF-8742 management.

The module is managed through Cisco Crosswork Assurance, which handles zero-touch provisioning and in-network firmware and FPGA upgrades. It fits SFP+ ports and complies with the SFP+ MSA SFF-8431. As a smart SFP built on FPGA technology, its initialisation time is longer than standard MSA optics.
