Description

The S10G-BU-PM-D-I is a 10GBASE-LR BiDi SFP+ smart transceiver from the Cisco Assurance SFP range, built for carrier Ethernet, mobile backhaul and IP service demarcation. An onboard FPGA adds service activation testing and ongoing performance monitoring at the network edge, so service quality can be verified without extra test equipment or rack space.

It carries 10 Gbps over a single single-mode fibre (G.652) with an LC simplex connector, up to 10 km. This is the upstream side of a BiDi pair, transmitting at 1270 nm (1260 to 1280 nm) and receiving at 1330 nm (1320 to 1340 nm). The industrial temperature rating of -40 to 85 C suits outdoor cabinets and unconditioned equipment rooms. Power draw is 2.7 W from the host port, and Digital Optical Monitoring is supported per SFF-8472. The module is managed and monitored through Cisco Crosswork Assurance (Provider Connectivity Assurance).

It fits standard SFP+ ports and must be paired with the matching downstream unit, S10G-BD-PM-D-I (Tx 1330 nm, Rx 1270 nm), at the far end. Because it is an FPGA-based smart SFP, transceiver initialisation takes longer than the MSA specification allows for.
