Description

The Cisco Assurance SFP in this SKU is a 10G BiDi SFP+ smart transceiver for service-provider and carrier Ethernet demarcation. It carries full duplex traffic over a single single-mode fibre and adds an onboard FPGA for service activation testing and performance monitoring through Cisco Crosswork Assurance. An industrial temperature rating suits harsh or outdoor deployments where space and cost rule out separate rack-mounted test gear.

This unit transmits at 1330 nm and receives at 1270 nm over G.652 single-mode fibre, with a reach of up to 10 km and a 5 dB link budget. It uses an LC simplex connector and operates from -40 to 85 C. Module power draw is 2.7 W, supplied by the host SFP+ port, and digital optical monitoring is provided per SFF-8472. Layer 2-4 traffic generation supports TWAMP, RFC2544 and Y.1564 testing, with the firmware and FPGA upgradable in-network.

BiDi optics work in pairs, so this downstream-side unit is used with the S10G-BU-PM-D-I (1270/1330 nm) at the far end of the same fibre. Check the Cisco TMG Compatibility Matrix for supported host platforms.

A: No licence is listed for the SFP itself. It is managed and controlled through Cisco Crosswork Assurance, so that platform is needed to use its assurance and monitoring functions.
