Description

The QSFP-400G-VR4 is a hot-swappable 400G QSFP112 transceiver for 400GBASE-VR4 links over parallel multimode fibre. It is built for high-density AI/ML back-end and front-end fabrics, high-performance computing, and cloud data centre leaf and spine networks, and it is mainly used to connect to server NICs over short-reach multimode cabling.

The module carries four 100G PAM4 lanes at 850 nm and terminates on an MPO-12 APC connector. Reach is 50 m on OM4 or OM5 fibre and 30 m on OM3. Maximum power consumption is 9 W, and the module supports breakout into 2 x 200G-VR2 or 4 x 100G-VR1 links. FEC is performed on the host platform. The operating temperature range is 15 to 70 C, with cold start from 0 to 15 C.

It plugs into 400G Cisco QSFP112-compatible ports and interoperates with QDD-400G-VR4 for 400G VR4 and QSFP-100G-SR-S for 100G VR1 breakout over 50 m of multimode fibre.
