Description

The P-5GS6-RC-GL is a 5G RedCap (NR Light) cellular pluggable interface module for Cisco Catalyst IR1800 Rugged Series and other IoT industrial routers. It gives industrial and IoT sites a cost-effective, power-efficient path from LTE to 5G, and suits vehicular deployments and staged LTE-to-5G migrations.

The module is built around the EM8695 modem and supports both 4G LTE and 5G RedCap NR, including 5G Standalone mode and network slicing. It has two SMA cellular antenna ports (ANT0 MAIN and ANT1 DIV) plus one SMA GNSS port for a passive GNSS antenna, and two SIM slots (SIM0 and SIM1). eSIM is supported to the SGP.32 standard. Front-panel LEDs show enable, SIM0, SIM1, GNSS and service status, with the service LED colour indicating 3G, 4G LTE or 5G.

It requires a host router running IOS XE 26.1.2 or later, and up to two pluggable modules can be fitted per router. The module is powered from the host router slot and can be started or stopped from the CLI to reduce power consumption.

FAQs

Q: Which routers does this module work with?
A: It is designed for the Cisco Catalyst IR1800 Rugged Series and other IoT industrial routers with a pluggable module slot, running IOS XE 26.1.2 or later.

Q: How many of these modules can one router take?
A: Up to two pluggable modules per IoT router, in any combination of 5G and 4G pluggable interface modules.

Q: What antennas does it need?
A: It uses SMA connectors for ANT0 MAIN, ANT1 DIV and GNSS. An example antenna is the ANT-3-5G2G1-P-O, with Cell 0 to ANT0 MAIN, Cell 1 to ANT1 DIV and GNSS to the GNSS port.

Q: Can I use an active GNSS antenna?
A: No. The GNSS port supports passive GNSS antennas only.

Q: Does it support eSIM and 5G Standalone?
A: Yes. It supports 5G Standalone mode, network slicing and the SGP.32 eSIM standard, and also has two physical SIM slots.

Q: Can I reduce its power consumption?
A: Yes. The module can be started or stopped from the CLI in exec mode and powered off when not needed to reduce power consumption.
