Description

This OSFP 800G transceiver carries 800GBASE-DR8 over eight pairs of single-mode fibre at 1310nm, reaching up to 500m through dual MPO-12 APC connectors. It suits AI front-end and back-end networks, data centre and high-performance computing fabrics, enterprise core and distribution layers, and service provider applications.

The module uses an 800GAUI-8 electrical interface and can break out to 2x 400GBASE-DR4, 4x 200GBASE-DR2 or 8x 100GBASE-DR1 links, which lets a single 800G port serve several lower-speed connections for higher port density. Power draw is 14.2 W typical and 16/17 W maximum, supplied from the host OSFP port, and no licence or subscription is required.

It is supported on Cisco switches and routers with OSFP 800G ports, and it interoperates with IEEE-compliant 800GBASE-DR8 optics. Angled-physical-contact (APC) MPO-12 single-mode patch cords are required for the optical connection.

A: No. No licence or subscription is required to use the module in a supported OSFP 800G port.

Q: What fibre and connectors does it need?
A: It needs single-mode fibre (G.652) with APC-polished MPO-12 patch cords. It has dual MPO-12 APC connectors carrying eight fibre pairs.

Q: Can it break out to lower speeds?
