Description

The Nexus 7700 F3-Series 24-port 40GbE QSFP+ line card is a high-density, low-latency Layer 2 and Layer 3 I/O module for Nexus 7700 chassis. It suits data centre aggregation and core deployments, virtualised and overlay environments using VXLAN and LISP, and FCoE designs where the optional licence is added.

The module provides 24 x 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+ ports with 960 Gbps of module throughput and 1.44 billion packets per second of Layer 2 and Layer 3 IPv4 and IPv6 forwarding. A Nexus 7718 chassis can hold up to 384 wire-rate 40GbE ports and a Nexus 7710 up to 192. Nineteen ports can run in 10GbE breakout mode while the remaining five stay at 40GbE. The base module needs no licence to operate, and FCoE is enabled with the separate N77-FCOE-F324FQ licence.

The line card installs in Nexus 7700 2-, 6-, 10- and 18-slot chassis (7702, 7706, 7710 and 7718). QSFP+ 40G optics or breakout cables are required to bring the ports into service.

Q: Does this line card need a licence to operate?
A: The base module needs no licence to operate. Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) requires the separate N77-FCOE-F324FQ licence.

Q: Which Nexus chassis does it install in?
A: It is supported in Nexus 7700 chassis with 2, 6, 10 and 18 slots, which covers the 7702, 7706, 7710 and 7718.

Q: What optics or cables does it need?
A: The 24 ports are QSFP+ and need 40G QSFP+ optics or breakout cables to be used. These are not part of the line card itself.
